PETRA

I have always loved cats, big and small… I am particularly enchanted by the Eurasian Lynx… their beautiful eyes and ears (with rather unique hair tufts), the shape of their heads, their stride… well, pretty much all of their gloriousness!

My personal muse for this sculpture was β€˜Petra’, a stunning 21-year-old Eurasian Lynx who until very recently was under the dedicated care at the Big Cat Sanctuary in Kent, England. Sadly Petra passed early 2024, which was a huge loss. Although she led a long and healthy life. I hope this sculpture of Petra pays homage to her grace and magnificence whilst embodying meditation and tranquillity. RIP sweet Petra.

Personally, I would love for this sculpture to also serve as a poignant reminder of the imperative need to protect and cherish the natural world.

Petra has been crafted both in Foundry Bronze, using the Lost Wax Method and the Cold Wax Method (Bronze Resin). Both adorned with handmade Solid Bronze Tufts.
