MIN REID

Sculpting the Silent, the Sacred, the Endangered…

Welcome to my Home Page! I’m Min, a sculptor, filmmaker, and a passionate advocate for the natural world. My journey into art is deeply rooted in a life shaped by movement, memory, and the wild.

I was born in Kuala Lipis, deep in the Malaysian jungle. One of my earliest memories is of a tiger, a mother searching for her cub that had been taken by illegal animal traders… This encounter left an massive imprint on me, long before I understood its significance. That moment planted the seed for my lifelong connection to animals, and the quiet stories they hold and how desperately important it is that we try to do our best in protecting these gorgeous, critically endangered creatures before it’s too late.

I grew up in Jamaica and Hong Kong, was educated in my native New Zealand, worked in the legal corporate world in London, lived for a time in America, and now I find myself grounded in the soft hills of the Cotswolds, England. This rich tapestry of places, cultures and experiences has shaped how I see the world - and how I sculpt it.

In 2024, I was honoured to receive the Chelsea Arts Society - Visitors’ Choice Sculpture of the Year Award, a milestone that affirms the heart I pour into this work. From my Cotswolds studio, I sculpt primarily in clay, mainly casting in foundry bronze. My focus is on critically endangered animals, not just to honour their beauty, but to give a voice to the voiceless through my art.

Each sculpture is a story, a feeling made visible - whether it’s the quiet strength of a Sumatran tiger, the grace of a cheetah, or the tender bond of African wild dogs. I want people to feel a sense of presence, connection, and evoke responsibility.

A portion of all sales goes to wildlife conservation, supporting efforts to protect the very creatures who inspire my art.

Through my work, I hope to offer more than sculpture… I hope to offer moments of stillness, empathy, and awareness. Because art can be many things, but for me, it’s always been about love - for life, for story, and for the wild beauties we share our world with.

With love,

Min

TESTIMONIES…

  • We Three Queens of Orient Are - Foundry Bronze

“Paul fell in love with ‘We Three Queens’ the moment he saw them at the Cotswold Sculpture Park. Once they were installed in our garden I was both emotionally and physically drawn to them, they emit a peace and calm and are absolutely majestic. I never realised the pleasure these sculptures would bring to us both every day. I love the little details along with the magic you feel when you touch them.
Thank you to Min for her incredible artwork, her heart love and soul is in every piece and the love is then transferred to the owners of her sculptures. We feel we have a new friend who truly knows and supports us. Thank you.
Finally, I would like to say how much we love following Min’s Facebook page to see the development and creation of new work and can see first hand the love and dedication in each piece.”

  • Charlie The Hare

‘' I am the proud owner of a most beautiful Hare called Charlie. Min has sculpted a truly unique piece of art, with attention to detail and shape, so every time I look at Charlie I see something different. He is so very beautiful, full of life and emotions. He sits in a large window so the light picks up different elements of his body, revealing the power of a hare, but a vulnerability - that is expressed through the way his ears have been so delicately created by Min. I absolutely love Charlie. I will love and look after him forever. Thank you Min for creating something so full of life …''

  • Petra - Foundry Bronze

I saw Petra at the Himalayan Sculpture Park in North Yorkshire.  I fell in love immediately.  She is so regal but also seems to display a quiet peacefulness.

She makes me smile whenever I look out at her sitting tall in my garden.  Her ear tips glinting in the sun.

The whole experience was made extra special when the lovely Min and her husband delivered Petra to me.  Such a delight to meet them.!”

  • Wee Petra - Foundry Bronze

“Wee Petra is a beautiful piece, exuding serenity and self-containment. It's wonderful that, in addition to creating magnificent images of big cats, Min’s drawing attention to their plight and providing funding to help their survival.

Her attention to detail, not only in her sculptures but also in everything she provides, is exemplary.

Min’s ‘aftercare’’ was highly professional and personal.

I’m so pleased that Min and her cats have come into my life!”
